Day 111: Random exercise class Thursday strikes again

This week’s random class of choice was Body Attack, it was a hard choice, I am not sure it was a wise Thursday class.

Thursdays are tricky, you have to cope with having done lots of running and classes and dancing for the first 3 days of the week…so really Thursday should be a more gentle class to let you sore calves recover.

Body Attack is not a gentle class, and it did not let my calves recover.

Body attack

It was a good class though, it was hard work in a good high intensity cardio sort of way ๐Ÿ˜€

This is what les mills thinks it looks like…

It didn’t look like that!

we were not on a rooftop in London and we were not really looking as cheerful as all that, a little bit cheerful sometimes…but not yellow and blue fitness model smiley!

It is supposed to be sports based routines of high intensity cardio with peaks of intensity. It was that, but ย a lot of it seemed a bit like fancied up aerobics.

However, as I said, it was a good work out, and the instructor was really good…she must be super fit because she was doing the whole thing, and doing the highest impact option for all of it and still shouting (in a good way) to motivate us! I was very impressed by her!

Apart from she did make the instant assumption that because I was new to the class and still larger than average, I was unfit. She seemed to change her mind as the class went on…although she did look surprised a couple of times when I was keeping up with the high impact options…and even chose burpees when there was an option not to do them! She did say at the end when I spoke to her that I did really well…and I chose to take that as a compliment and not as patronising. I don’t think I am going to get away from these types of wrong assumptions just yet…Ahh well, I just have to keep on proving them wrong!

Whenย ย I got home I discovered my Skins compression calf tights had arrived so I tried them out while I spent the rest of the evening moving furniture around (that is good strength training right there!) My calves hurt less than when I started, which is a good thing…I’ll keep you posted on how they work!

Day 111 very much complete ๐Ÿ˜€

PS…Body attack might just find its way into my routine…but maybe not on a Thursday…

There are those inaccurate assumptions again. Great job proving her wrong!

I have been hesitant to try BodyAttack, as it seemed to be an 80’s style aerobic workout. Sounds like you liked it enough to consider adding it to the rotation… Hmm…maybe I’ll give it a try. Thanks for the recap!

it is a little bit like 1980s aerobics…but with enough of a twist to make it fun.
It was not like the aerobics class i went to a few weeks ago which reminded me of the mall scene in Bill and Ted’s excellent adventure…with Joan of arc taking the aerobics!
It is worth a try, we did have a really enthusiastic instructor which definitely helps!
