Day 122: Monday revelation

Good Morning πŸ™‚

I am slightly late writing up Monday’s body pump, but my excitement at the revelation is not diminished…but I will come to that all in good time πŸ™‚

I decided to stick with only body pump as a Monday exercise this week, I would love to say it was because I was being sensible and pacing myself and all of that good stuff…but really it was because I got up at 5:30 am looked out of the window into torrential rain and darkness and went back to bed…

yes…I know it was a cop out…shhhh!

Back to Body Pump!

It was a really good session, I mean, as far as tracks etc go it was the same as body pump always is but there were a lot of positive steps forward in this class πŸ™‚

1) I completed the squats track without a) felling like I was going to fall down, 2) resorting to half cheaty squats Β or c) getting shoulder pain of any kind. SO definitely upping my squat weight next week πŸ™‚

2) I did tricep dips…actual tricep dips not the modified ones, ok my feets were pretty close to the step…but it is still an improvement πŸ˜€

3) I had a giant revelation in the middle of my lunge track while trying to distract myself from lunges…ok…giant revelation might be an exaggeration…but it was a startling realisation.

10kg

10kg

I realised half way through, that the weight I had on my shoulders (10kg / 1 stone 8lb / 22lbs) was exactly the same amount of weight that I have now lost!

It struck me that it looks a lot more tangible and real when you see it there like that sitting on a bar like that!

It also struck me that what I was doing there with an extra 10kg on my shoulders was the same as a bodyweight lunge 4 months ago! Β this made me think I should be doing more now, but that was not the point!

the point is…I only realised that the amount of weight I have lost already is a significant one, when I realised that there were some people in my class who would have trouble even lifting it!

So my advice to anyone losing weight who is having trouble relating to the amount of weight they have lost and its significance, is to stack up the equivalent amount in body pump weights (or blocks of butter / or free weights or something that you can relate to!!). It really make you realise how far you have already come!
