Day 271: I made all the way around!

In January 2013 I started the c25k for the first time,

first ever c25k

first c25k…ever

My distance was 1.81 miles, which is about 2.9km which is not too shabby for a first go ever, but then you have to bear in mind that it was mostly walking, something like 1 min run and 1.5 min walk with 5 mins on each end warm up and cool down. I was really proud of myself for going and doing it, especially as I did it in my work lunch break! On a map it looked like this:

first run

The reason I have left it on such a big map will become clear shortly!

I started the c25k again when I started this project and recently have been working on the 10km training program of the same nature.

I have been gradually improving and running more and more, and on Tuesday, this happened…

first and most recent

blue = first, green = last week, and red = Tuesday!

I made it all the way around the big loop!

The loop a friend of min was running while I was starting with that little blue route.

The route that I looked at on a map and said “that is craziness, I’ll never get that far in a lunch break! Maybe not even ever!”

But on Tuesday lunchtime Β this week, I made it πŸ˜€ and not only did I make it, but I enjoyed it! It felt like hard work in places, but when I looked at my stats it turned out that this is because I was going faster than I have for the past two runs πŸ˜€ and here is the app record to prove it πŸ˜€

Woohoo πŸ˜€

I said after my last run that I am beginning to feel like a runner, and I am!

I am beginning to feel that this 10k is not completely out of reach…although I don’t believe it will be easy!

I Had to take a look back at where I started to realise how far I have come!

That is awesome! Well done! Doing a Snoopy happy dance for you πŸ˜€

You have come a long, long way! So important for us to keep that in mind, when it’s so easy to just look at how far left to go. Well done you! I am so excited that we are both training for 10ks!

    • Ice_Badger says :

you are right! I so often concentrate on what is left to go, and how far I feel like I am from being finished!
(it would help if I had an actual goal…the end of this project is in no way the end)
We have both come so far! πŸ˜€

I am excited about our 10ks too…it makes me slightly less scared of mine!

      • nancytex2013 says :

Yeah, I know what you mean on the “end goal”. I think that’s why I floundered a bit after my 365. I wasn’t sure where to go next.

      • Ice_Badger says :

I will have to come up with something, or I might just carry on doing what I am doing now, and make it all up as I go along.

I can’t help but feel that I would be so much more successful if I was even a little bit focused!

      • nancytex2013 says :

        Yep, I agree.
I talked about setting goals each month for my Year 2 plan, but in actuality it has been more, Do something new/challenging and THEN call it a goal. After it’s done. Which is a cop out.

Saying I’m going to do something, planning for it, then doing it is the right way around, and holds me accountable.

This new job thing has really impacted my approach on this but I need to just suck it up and start doing it the way I said I would.

      • Ice_Badger says :

one good thing to remember is that at least you are still doing something, planned in advance or not, you have not just stopped…which is good!

this is why I keep signing up for things…I have much more will power if I can’t talk myself out if it!

      • nancytex2013 says :

Good advice. I need to investigate more/different classes. That Pure Barrr thing was awesome.

      • Ice_Badger says :

Classes are good, especially if you can either make someone go with you or sign up for a course in advance, then before you know it is is a habit!

        I’d come with you πŸ˜€

      • nancytex2013 says :

At Body Pump now. I’m afraid!!! It’s been since early Decrmber. Yikes!!

      • Ice_Badger says :

yikes!! May I recommend not going straight back into 23kg squats!!

        You’ll be awesome!

      • nancytex2013 says :

I went very light on warm up, then heavy on squats (which were surprisingly still familiar/easyish for me) and then light on chest, lighter than normal on back track and super light on shoulders. I’m exhausted and sore, but feeling good!

      • Ice_Badger says :

Heavy on squats always seems easier to me than others think it should too…once I get it up there! Shoulders is a hard track! Well done πŸ˜€ I just did week4 day 1 it went better than I expected!

      • nancytex2013 says :

I I somehow missed Wk 4 Day 2, and went straight to wk 4 Day 3 – which featured 10 minute runs… GAH!

      • Ice_Badger says :

Eeek that is hard work! Day 2 has 1 10 min run, annoyingly it is at the end…I might stand more if a chance at the start but we will see!

      • nancytex2013 says :

Wk 5 day 1 looks nasty. I’m not looking forward to it. And will try to remember not to skip anymore training days, as that certainly isn’t helping.

      • Ice_Badger says :

No, I don’t think skipping them helps! Mind you, you did it!
