Day 287: I valiently fought a battle with the morning
And I lost 😦
I am sorry, I know I said I would do the early thing every day, but it just didn’t work!
I tried, I got up as I said I would at 6am, I went to the bathroom and spent a good 15-20 mins arguing with myself (in my head, obviously) about working out…after all I was up already. The problem was, my body/subconscious brain were of the opinion that 5.5 hrs of sleep were not enough and the opportunity of another hour of recuperation time was not to be passed up…so to my shame I caved in and went back to bed!
and spent the rest of the day feeling guilty and resolving to do better tomorrow.
now for the good 🙂
Knowing how much I still have to do on wedding cakes and suchlike, I resolved to run at lunchtime thus keeping the whole evening free 🙂 This time I stuck to my resolution and made it out in my break to complete week 5 day 2 of my 10k training!
It was a hard run, but not an awful run. I am still not getting through these whole 10 min intervals. I am definitely switching apps for my next run when I will have more time and trying more, shorter intervals.
This run, however, was the opposite of my last one, with me improving in the middle / end of the run rather than the start. This could have been something to do with the gradient profile of the run…(oooh get me “gradient profile”…I meant it was more uphill slopey on for the first half and downhill slopey on the way back…)
Or it could just be because I am not very consistent in my running…
Whatever the reason, I was happier, struggled less and ran for more of the last 2 intervals than I did the first one.
it was not quite as long as Mondays, and not quite as quick but still respectable (for me 🙂 ) we will just have to see what happens in the different interval pattern.
The most comical part of the run was the scene of me arriving back at my work building trying twice to pull open the push door… only to be caught up with the Operations Director of my company who was slightly sarcastic (in a nice way) about it…
My brain does not work well after running…
