Day 319: A vast improvement over recent tuesdays

Well, for the first time in a while I don’t have to break out the I hate Tuesdays cat!

It may have been helped by the fact that after a bank holiday I am always slightly uncertain about what day it is…

It may also be because I had excellent PT and did not break anything! Woohoo πŸ™‚

everything is awesome

this is true!

It was the now customary early start, but there was a surprising amount of awakeness all around which is a good sign πŸ™‚

of course we started with a warm up…and some mobility stuff which equates to bending down and standing up and waving your arms around!

we then followed this with some HIIT…with tabata style timing…

I had to do:
Tuck jumps
Mountain climbers
Plank Twists
Press Ups
Burpees
Plank Hold

All of these were done for 20s with 10s rest…although…on saying that…I am not sure about Matt’s timing…we have no stopwatch so have to look at the second hand on the clock…I am sure the 20s varies slightly πŸ˜‰

MAtts Focus pads

fast pads

After this we did quite a lot of boxing, starting with the fast focus pads working on mainly punch combos and defence lots of rolls and ducking…and hardly ever forgetting to roll and almost getting hit…

we then moved on to using the thai pads and adding in more kicks and knees partly to stop my arm from taking a complete beating.

However, I was pleased to note that my arm was not hurting during any of this, it is almost completely healed now, and only hurts in very specific twisting motions, and even then not that badly πŸ˜€

There were a lot more kicks in this section because I, rather rashly, suggested that they should be between every combo. I must have still been asleep!

It was fun though and I got to kick…I like kicking πŸ˜€

following this, Matt suggested some Olympic lifting, but not too heavy owing to the arm healing that is still going on…He spent someΒ time telling my these things were up to me…he mentioned it often…I think he was worried about breaking me… or felt guilty that he had broken me…

I pointed out that I was a poor judge of my own limits and would carry on anyway πŸ˜€

So I did…Bench presses (10 @20kg)

Snatches starting with the small bar to test the range of motion, then the 20kg bar when it turned out that it didn’t hurt πŸ˜€

then because I mentioned that I liked Tabata (sometimes I should shut up…) we (and by we I mean I) did tabata.

of course I jumped that high :-S

of course I jumped that high :-S

I did the same combination of alternate, burpees with a sideways tuck jump and side to side lunge jump thingies (now nicknamed Twister things, because Matt’s explanation involved a virtual twister board). standard 20s work 10s rest configuration…

After this, I had a go at jump dip / tuck holds on the bars… this was surprisingly not painful on my arm…although the up bit after the dip didn’t happen…

πŸ˜€ woohoo successful PT with no further damage done, and no existing damage redone πŸ˜€

all in all I consider this a successful morning πŸ™‚

Later in the day I went on to walk for 40 mins in my lunch break at work.
And, of course, it was day 6 of the squat challenge, which involved the following:
75 Standard Squats (25 +25 +25)
75 Plie Squats (25 + 25+ 25)
20 low pulse squats

this is beginning to get tough!!
