Day 334: Have I mentioned I never learn?

I never ever learn!

I say…”oh next week I will not wait until after dancing to do my squats”

I say “I will be organised and do them in the morning, or at lunchtime”

I say all sorts of things…

yes, Anya, I really think I might be!

yes, Anya, I really think I might be!

And yet I still end up doing squats at 11pm Β after dancing for 2 hours!

but before that lets talk about dancing πŸ™‚

It was (in theory) a regular practice, we even have a dance free weekend this weekend 😦 , so have no particular event to practice for. However, for reason of holiday and randomness we were very short on people!

IMG_3934[1]This meant I got to dance a lot, which was awesome, it also meant that we got to teach a lot of the dances to the newer members of the side, which was a good thing to do πŸ™‚ It is nice to be able to do that with no pressure once in a while πŸ˜€

So it meant that all the dances (more or less) were done with a walk through first. Those dance were:
Maiden Castle
Triskele (x2)
Spank the Monkey (x2)
Raggle Taggle Gypsy
Our Henry (x2)
Standing Stones
Witch Hunt
Fanny Frail

All in all it was an excellent practice πŸ™‚ and we were interviewed by a man from a paper πŸ™‚ so fame and fortune awaits!

So that was the fun bit!

Next came the stupid bit!

the bit where I had to do:
150 squats
150 plie squats

yes…that’s right, 300 squats…

It hurt!

A lot!

But I did it, day 21 of the bombshell bottom challenge is out of the way!

Day 334 Complete πŸ™‚

PS…I am doing a survey in relation to circuit training, and people’s perceptions of it. I would be very grateful to get your help, it will only take a minute πŸ˜€

    160 + 140 today…ugghhh… 😦

Did you look at the recommended form for plie squats? it’s feet at just shoulder/hip distance apart, feet turned out at an unnatural angle, and then keep your back as perfectly straight as you lower yourself into squat. Clearly this means not getting anywhere nearly as low as a traditional squat. But Christ does it ever hurt despite the more shallow depth. GAH! How many more days to go???

    • Ice_Badger says :

yes, that is how I have been doing them πŸ™‚ with my feet so far out that they are almost in a straight line and I topple over if I get it wrong…

you definitely can’t go as low but I think I have noticed an improvement in them over the weeks πŸ™‚

But yes they all hurt, especially yesterday…everything hurt yesterday!!

it is ok…we are over half way there πŸ˜€

  2. Helen says :

First of all, yey for a Buffy reference!! πŸ˜€
Amazing day again, 300 squats is crazy though! And because I’m very mature, the names of some of your dances frequently make me laugh (sorry!)

    • Ice_Badger says :

are you referring to Spank the Monkey?

it has a convoluted story attached but really is just an excuse to say Spank the Monkey on public πŸ˜‰

it is supposed to make you laugh πŸ™‚

I am trying to shoehorn as many buffy references in as I can now I have discovered the wealth of buffy gifs the internet has to offer! πŸ˜€
      and dr who gifs…

      • Helen says :

That one and I think there was another one, I’m so mature!

There are lots and lots of Buffy gifs around πŸ™‚ I don’t watch Dr Who (sorry, but I don’t actually have a TV license, I just watch DVDs!) There are some pretty good Big Bang Theory ones around too. Gif hunting is a little bit of an addictive pastime though…

      • Ice_Badger says :

        was it Fanny Frail?

there are lots of Dr Who DVDs…I prescribe them immediately!! and Sherlock..if you haven’t already sen them! Big Bang Theory…excellent!!

I don’t actually spend that much time watching tv by the way…some things are just awesome!

      • Helen says :

I might try it… maybe! I’ve heard good things about Sherlock, and also Merlin if you’ve watched it?

I like to watch one or two things right through which is why I like DVDs, at the moment it’s The White Queen and True Blood πŸ˜€

      • Ice_Badger says :

watching things right through is good..I hate waiting for stuff!!

I have never watched Merlin. Game of Thrones is excellent if you haven’t already seen it!

hehehe…we even sing a song about fanny frail…”fanny’s alright on a saturday night…”

      • Helen says :

I have Game of Thrones lined up for when I finish True Blood (which might take a while!) I’ve heard really good things about it!

I’m sitting here sniggering at the fanny frail song now!

      • Ice_Badger says :

Fanny frail is fair and Handsome
fanny frail is fine and free
fanny frail is a pretty little thing but sally is the one for me

sally is the one I fancy
sally is the one for me
Fanny’s Alright on a saturday night
but sally is the one for me…

it causes much hilarity and the same jokes are cracked every week…and we never get tired of them πŸ˜‰

      • Helen says :

And I’m sniggering like a teenage boy! πŸ˜€

      • Ice_Badger says :

you’d fit into mythago then πŸ˜‰

  3. Eunice says :

Congrats on the 300 squats! That is an accomplishment on its own! Now I must mention the names of the dances were very neat but I must say spank the monkey…that made me chuckle πŸ™‚
